I Love Heart Balenciaga

Balenciaga leather braceletlove hearts
I love, love heart candy..although Parma violets are definitely old skool and should have stayed behind in the past. Those days at school where you get the little giggles when you get the candy "be mine". What makes me chuckle now is that on their packaging; they should at least update 'email/page me'!
I totally love my Balenciaga bracelet cuff in navy blue leather with rose gold hardware. I knew I couldn't afford the handbags (£1k) so why not treat myself to the motorcycle look on my skinny lil wrist. It did set me off around £135, but i sacrificed a few lunches and went on social suicide to afford it :)
It is one of those classic and iconic pieces that will not lose value (especially rose gold and navy blue are generally the best selling colour/combination in any designer brand), and will still look fab after a few years before it turns sexy vintage!
How did Balenciaga and love hearts go hand in hand? Office dwindle and procrastination for a few minutes and I had two of my favourites things right in front of me and had to Instagram.
I hope to hear your cheeky purchases,

MayMay's January look for 2013

maymay's January look for 2013
As I was compiling my looks together, I was quite amazed that I actually wore every piece to work (isn't it great to wear trendy than a strict formal suit jacket..so00 2005!) We have a combo of high street and cheeky designers; and luckily the winter sale means cheap deals! I don't quite know how to describe my personal style, I see what I like and I vision what it will go with what I have or what I need to buy to match it. My first buy was the floral chiffon blouse from Miss Selfridge (£32), it was a hefty price tag on this delicate piece; but I knew it would go well with my skater faux leather skirt (£25) from River Island. Above left is the Zara cheetah gold neck chain; I wasn't very sure at first (£28) but I have always wanted a lion like accessory and the cheetah was close enough! I totally love the ring from Topshop (£8), it reminded me of Lara Bohinc and I couldn't afford the real deal (£200 approx). The dainty pink and gold bracelet was from Warehouse (£10), it's very dainty and subtle (if we are going to compare it with the Zara necklace).
And so the Harrods spend came down to my awesome Repetto (French label) leather ankle boots. They are ridiculously comfortable and they were originally £405 (I managed to find them in the sale and got them for £180). I must say, this pair is 100% leather including the bottom; which means I can't wear it in the rain. Eek, need to spend another £40 me thinks to protect them.
Viktor and Rolf have always been my ID perfume since the age of 17, the one perfume I can not live without. It is so sweet and musky, and matches very well with my Lancome pink Juicy tubes (on sale for £12), Finally, my Longchamp Paris crossbody in Bordeaux red I got in the sale too which was lucky. I paid £40 for it and it is so useful, especially for work and travel.
How much is this look?
Before discount: £650
After: £380. Eek, quite a damage for a simple work day look. *hears the bank breaking*
What is your key January look?

YSL lipsticks - That's Why We Have Sisters

Yves Saint Laurent lipsticks DSC_2323
The best thing of having sisters is that you get passed down goodies! Clearly my sister have been buying one too many lipsticks, and colours I would never ever see her wear. But that is where I benefit; she gave me 3 Yves Saint Laurent lipsticks and I totally love the colours! Yay, I don’t need to buy new lipsticks.
The lipstick red is totally gorgeous. It is very striking and smooth to apply, giving me the authentic Chinese look. However, being a young 24, it is not the lipstick I will walk into the office with, without being stared at, so I wear the soft pink instead. It is very subtle and almost nude.  But make sure to apply lib balm for hydration to avoid flaky lips.
YSL lipstick in deep red makes me look slightly vamp/Russian/evil…haven’t decided which of these 3 options is the answer yet. But I am sure there will be an occasion for this colour.
Colour aside, you can’t help but resist how beautiful the case is! Like any accessory, I look forward to applying my YSL lipstick out of my handbag, or just perfectly sitting on my work desk.
Lil Fact of the day: the branding Yves Saint Laurent will come to an end and welcome Saint Laurent Paris.
Thank you for visiting :)

What's In My Makeup Bag for 2013... Marc by Marc Jacobs Style.

Marc by Marc Jacobs makeup bag
2012 felt like it was just yesterday! I have read many beauty bloggers emptying their makeup bag for fresh new ones! But my logic is.. why throw away something that has been there for you and actually works! So, I have not taken pity of what is left of my makeup supplies, but have made it to the new Make up Bag of 2013!! Firstly, I have to say I L.O.V.E my Marc by Marc Jacobs makeup bag, it is very slim and long which means my brushes actually fit!
Burberry Lipgloss, Burberry Union Jack Lipstick, Jane Iredale mineral foundation, Rimmel London bronzer, Mac gel liner, Benefit primer, Mac buffer brush, Lancome mascara, Shu Uemura eyeshadow, Lancome lipstick, Lancome lipgloss, Victor & Rolf Flowerbomb perfume, x3 Mac brushes

Lipstick/gloss Heaven

On the go, you will need more than just a lipstick and gloss! During the day I have my neutral glossy 'not trying too hard' look, and in the evening I can wipe and slap on the Burberry Union Jack red lipstick for the killer look; or the soft pink lipstick from Lancome for the 'Soft, fun vulnerable' girly look :)
I have my favourite Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb with me at all times; it's so sweet and musky! It's nice to smell nice once in a while and catch a good whiff....mmmm.
Funnily enough, I use a very dark shade of foundation in comparison to the general public of the Oriental population. I guess my skin tone is a slight shade darker and I am on my 5th pack of Jane Iredale's mineral foundation in the colour 'Latte' and my friend who is Asian uses this shade! But I am not complaining, as mentioned on my personal 411, I like the 'out on the rice paddy field too long' look :)
4 key Mac brushesAs a girl, you only need 4 brushes to complete the look!! The buffer ( MAC no.182) for your mineral foundation; eyeliner (Mac no.266); eyeshadow brush ( MAC no. 239) and blender brush (MAC no.217). These were all recommended by the MAC girls for Oriental eyes like mine.
Shu Uemura eye shadows

What I love about Shu Uemura, it is technically a product for Oriental girls. For example, I find MAC eye shadows too matte and harsh for our beautiful small eyes. Shu Uemura blends very well, giving a soft shimmer that is not too heavy. My top 3 shades are Taupe ( everyday!), black and taupe-ish purple. You can't go wrong with neutral colours. Before I apply the eye shadow; it is an Oriental MUST to smudge primer around our eye lids, otherwise you will have messy, smudged makeup along crease lines which does not look good at all, I promise you. I use the Benefit Primer, it works to a certain extent but I am ready to invest in a better Primer (pump bottles are a little messy).
Well that is my make up essentials that made it to 2013. If I had to choose one item that I can not live without.. it will have to be my Jane Iredale mineral foundation (speaks for itself if I have rinsed out 5 packs already in a year).
What is your makeup essential that you can not live with out?

Strappy shoes, Burberry vs Miss Selfridge

20130103-235653.jpg

20130103-235637.jpg
It's always very tempting to find a nice pair of party shoes that will make you look fabulous without breaking the bank, or a limb! I managed to grab an amazing pair of designer shoes...they aren't just Burberry, it is the ultimate Burberry Prorsum! Off course, I got those in the sale so I technically paid a high street price for those black numbers. I wore it to a fancy dinner party and I have to say, they weren't as flattering and made my legs short, stompy and not very comfortable which was a shame.
Then I came across another strappy number from Miss Selfridge, I believe inspired by Alexander McQueen (they had a similar pair in their fashion show). It didn't look like the type of shoe I would wear, but when I tried them on i knew they had to be mine! I was also lucky to get it in the sale, in my size, so it was a great bargain hunt! It looks so expensive and dead comfortable. I have realised that strappy shoes like this doesn't constrict your feet, giving you less tension and pressure around the bunion area (sorry for being gross but it's true). High street versus high fashion?

The high street won it for me and I sold off the Burberry shoes to a new owner who would appreciate more than me.
What is the most expensive pair of shoes you bought and was it worth breaking the bank?

New Year's Beauty Resolution

skin hydration The serum
2012 have been amazing, but we now have to turn our backs to 2012 as a memory and look forward to 2013. It is a new year and a new, improved me. Everyone has their new years resolution and it always revolves around: losing a few pounds, quit smoking and/or drinking, earn lots of money. But people seem to forget how vain we really are and not think about our beauty resolutions! I am quite a lazy person when it comes to looking after myself; I like quick easy fixes. I have discovered my beauty essentials for healthier, youthful, glowing looking skin for 2013 and for someone like me who likes a dabble of makeup, skin hydration is key regardless how dry or oily your skin is..your skin needs a drink!!
I believe word of mouth is the greatest form of recommendation, and I have 3 key winter skin saviours all recommended from my mother and 2 sisters. My eldes sister recommended the Vichy brand and I have never turned back! This has now become my hub to beautiful skin. This serum helps your skin drink up the moisture, keeping you hydrated longer; especially when you apply makeup which is prone to dryness through out the day. I apply this in the morning when I wake up, and when I go to bed; before I apply my next two essentials. I wake up and apply an aloe vera moisturizing lotion. I have actually used this consistently for the past 5 years (clearly my mother got me into using it at a young age) and it is very good for olive skin types in my opinion, helping to boost firmness. Whereas in the evening, my other sister recommended me Dr Nick Lowe which I got from Boots, a night recovery anti ageing cream. It is very refreshing, soothing, and you don’t need to cake it on. The other bottle is a H20 water spray can. This will come in handy when I am out and about with no make up. If you feel that your skin is feeling dry...the water spritzer will just energize you instead of the rain!
So that is my beauty resolution that I will know I can promise to keep, what is your beauty resolution?

New Year, New Nails

We are moments away from a brand new year of 2013. We've dodged the end of the world and hosted the most amazing Olympics in London. Starting the new year with fresh nails called Tinkerbelle by Incoco. There's no secret with my obsession with Incoco. It is not difficult to apply at all, all you need is a buffer and nail filer. A great tip for longer lasting appliques, apply a top coat (i am using OPI) on top of the applique which can help avoid peeling and they will last for a month for me.
